Hi my fellow shavers. Today I want to share my journey into the rabbit hole. I found quickly that I'm a hardware guy, I cant choose between 4 soaps but i can have 5 DE and brushes lol. A fellow Canadian and owner of Brü brush ( such a nice guy btw ) made me fall in love with hand made brush.
Now the journey really begin.
I wanted to make my own brush.. so I started my research to hand tied my own knot... I know lol but since I work in a kitchen for as long as I can remember.. I have to make it from scratch. If I cant hand tied my knot, then I just let go the idea of making a brush.
After months of research and trying to find badger hair..im here today to show you what I have done and honestly really proud of it. Its not my first knot that I will show you but my fifth one...lot of struggle and wasted hair but I think I found the sweet spot for the density for my 26mm GB's handle. I can guarantee that its tight lol, don't think I can put more hair in a 26mm knot.

Do you have a picture of the knot installed in the handle? I would love to see the finished brush.

not now i will later this week i will let the epoxy fully cure, sand it lightly for a snug fit and will fix it with silicone. i got to say i was a little exited to share my story lol

Did you buy one of the bundles of prepped Chinese badger hair, use Canadian badger fur and cut the hair from it, or something else?
Did you use a little canister or something to shake and get them all evened up, or just preserve the original alignment through careful handling?
I ask because I have about a dozen raw raccoon skins in my freezer right now and was thinking about trying to make a knot from one of them.

Hey fellow shavers, I will start by thanking everyone who got interested in my journey. As I mentioned, this is the follow up after the knot was sand and glue to the handle. A really exciting moment I got to say and a little terrifying. SOTD was special today, enjoy this beast ;)

it was Chinese badger hair and i use both a can and by hand

let me know if you try, I'm interested in the full process. I cant help you with that but I know 1 or 2 hunters, ill see what I can get from them
