Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia today launched 3 short animated films about family violence, how the voice of the child is heard in parenting cases, and how the court process works in parenting cases. Chief Justice, the Hon Will Alstergren AO, said that the new short films provide information about difficult issues in a way that is easy to understand and will hopefully be a much-needed resource for people involved in family law disputes. “Family violence in our society is a national disgrace. It has been reported that in the first 32 weeks of 2023, 44 women have been killed by violence. Likewise, Court data tells us that in the last financial year, family violence has been alleged in 83% of parenting cases. In 72% of parenting cases, it has been alleged that a child has been abused or was at risk of abuse. It is simply not acceptable. “Separation can be extremely stressful, and a time of heightened risk. It is important that those who engage with the court system know what to expect, and can have confidence that the Courts take family violence very seriously. We want people to feel safe to inform the Courts about the violence they have experienced, so that Judges can make decisions in the best interests of children.” The short films are available from the Courts’ website.#fcfcoa#mediarelease#familylaw#familyviolence

Today marks 99 days since February 16th, 2024. It has been a significant period since I last had the privilege of spending time with my child, engaging in simple moments that now feel like distant memories.I will never forget nor forgive those involved in neglecting thorough investigations, denying due process, and perpetuating false allegations that have impacted my life and my child's well-being. The official orders from San Francisco Superior Court have only added to this distressing journey.From court reporters to legal professionals and family and children's social work experts, everyone involved has left a mark on my life. This post encapsulates the pain and agony of my three-year battle within the San Francisco Court system and my five-year engagement with California's legal processes.There is an urgent need for more support and action for victims/survivors and their children. The current situation, both past and present, is simply unacceptable, intolerable, and inhumane.
